What are the formal and substantial requirements of a valid complaint or information?

A complaint or information is sufficient to indict a person of an offense when the following are present:

  1. The name of the accused;
  2. The designation of the offense by the statute;
  3. The acts or omissions complained of constituting the offense;
  4. The name of the offended party or against whose property the crime has been committed;
  5. The approximate date of the commission of the offense, and
  6. The place where the offense was committed.
